Salary range: $64,272 – $78,130

SFO Museum is seeking a highly talented Assistant Curator to join its Exhibitions team.  This position is responsible for supporting SFO Museum Curators in researching and writing for assigned exhibitions including: developing concepts; producing story lines; locating and selecting objects; working collaboratively to design, organize, and implement exhibitions; working with lenders to identify objects and secure their loan for exhibitions; developing education components and conducting visitor tours of the Museum’s facilities and galleries,  and perform a variety of related duties.

SFO Museum produces approximately forty exhibits annually on themes of art, history, science, and culture, and features over twenty galleries throughout the Airport.  The Museum also holds a permanent collection of over 100,000 objects related to the history of commercial aviation. Ideal Candidate will have strong writing skills; ability to summarize dense amounts of information and research, have a demeanor suited to a fast-moving and dynamic  team oriented environment; demonstrated concern for detail, accuracy, and neat execution of work; knowledge of general museum operations and procedures;  have the ability to plan, organize, and implement complex projects as well as multi-task and problem solve; have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, assistants, supervisor, Museum and Airport staff, outside agencies, and the public, and be  familiar with the Apple platform, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and FilemakerPro.

 

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in fine arts; AND 3 years of responsible museum experience in the field to which assigned; OR equivalent combination of training and experience e.
