Business Manager

The Mount, Edith Wharton’s Home in Lenox, MA, has an immediate opening for a full-time Business Manager. This position plays a vital role in the organization, and is in charge of the museum’s financial affairs including maintaining current accurate financial statements, processing timely invoices, and processing human resource information. This position reports to the Executive Director. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience working with QuickBooks and a solid understanding of credit card processing and merchant transactions. An understanding of non-profit accounting practices is preferable. Familiarity with online transaction services and experience working with a POS system is a plus. Responsibilities include: •Create and maintain budgets with support from Executive Director. •Balance daily cash activity and prepare necessary journal entries. •Enter accounts payable invoices into accounting software and process payments. •Enter payroll information and process all payroll and benefit items with a high level of accuracy and timeliness. •Reconcile GL accounts and enter journal entries, and assist with monthly and annual financial reporting. •Oversee all aspects of yearly audits. •Assist with the preparation of federal and state government reporting. •Generate accounts receivable billings. •Responsible for petty cash. •Coordinate and communicate human resource and employee benefit policies. •Liaison with accounting firming. •Point person for all insurance reports and claims. •Work closely with Development Associate to monitor financial status of grants and pledges. •Support the museum’s overall strategies and operational activities as needed.
