Overview:
The primary role of this position is to manage the rights and reproductions process for GEH generated visual content.
Responsibilities:
- Manage rights and reproductions for images and other content created by museum.
- Receive and prioritize internal and external requests for reproductions and use rights.
- Negotiate usage terms and fees for reproduction licenses.
- Process licensing contracts and payments of royalties to the museum.
- Ensure on-time delivery of images for reproduction orders.
- Coordinate licensing agreements with artists and other rights holders for works in the museum’s collection or to be used in museum publications.
- Work with museum photographer and other relevant staff to develop and implement media file naming conventions and file management protocols and workflows.
- Utilizing digital asset management (DAM) system, enhance, verify, and create descriptive and administrative metadata for digital objects following national and local metadata/cataloging protocols and procedures.
- Add relevant bibliographic and copyright information in the museum’s collection management system (TMS 2014).
- Assist with reduction of backlog by adding images to digital asset management (DAM) system and TMS as needed.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Art History, History, Museum Studies or related field required.
- Two years minimum experience working in a museum, library, or archives environment is required.
- Direct experience with licensing reproductions in a commercial, museum, and/or university setting is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of standard museum practices, protocols and ethics.
- Familiar with rights, reproduction and copyright protocols.
The duties of this position will require standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying, kneeling, crouching, reaching, seeing, depth perception and repetitive motions.
