Overview:

The primary role of this position is to manage the rights and reproductions process for GEH generated visual content.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage rights and reproductions for images and other content created by museum.
  2. Receive and prioritize internal and external requests for reproductions and use rights.
  3. Negotiate usage terms and fees for reproduction licenses.
  4. Process licensing contracts and payments of royalties to the museum.
  5. Ensure on-time delivery of images for reproduction orders.
  6. Coordinate licensing agreements with artists and other rights holders for works in the museum’s collection or to be used in museum publications.
  7. Work with museum photographer and other relevant staff to develop and implement media file naming conventions and file management protocols and workflows.
  8. Utilizing digital asset management (DAM) system, enhance, verify, and create descriptive and administrative metadata for digital objects following national and local metadata/cataloging protocols and procedures.
  9. Add relevant bibliographic and copyright information in the museum’s collection management system (TMS 2014).
  10. Assist with reduction of backlog by adding images to digital asset management (DAM) system and TMS as needed.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Art History, History, Museum Studies or related field required.
  2. Two years minimum experience working in a museum, library, or archives environment is required.
  3. Direct experience with licensing reproductions in a commercial, museum, and/or university setting is highly preferred.
  4. Knowledge of standard museum practices, protocols and ethics.
  5. Familiar with rights, reproduction and copyright protocols.

 

The duties of this position will require standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying, kneeling, crouching, reaching, seeing, depth perception and repetitive motions.
