Position Description:
Overview:
The Associate Manager of Collections Education is the primary education team member of the Treasures planning team. This position is the main content creator for all field trip activities, web-related materials and all other educational content for the Treasures exhibit and other collections-based field trip activities in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, and eventually, neighborhood library sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with other members of the Treasures team to conceptualize program vision, goals and objectives
  • Works with Digital Users team, Exhibitions team, outside design firm, collections curators and Children’s Center staff to: select artifacts; designs activities and other programming; and builds out digital presence for Treasures exhibit and other visits to research collections that will resonate with youth audience
  • Works with the Department of Education and individual schools to assess the curricular needs of P-12 audiences to help determine the most engaging and educational programming and activities for visits to the Treasures and other research collections
  • Supervises other field trip instructors and maintains quality control of program delivery
  • Collects and analyzes program data
  • Drafts program descriptions and otherwise lend assistance to program fundraising efforts; and works with Communications and Marketing staff to advertise the program
  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Museum Education or other relevant degree and two years’ relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience directly working with children, using artifacts to teach, and developing and implementing educational programming for varied age groups
  • Strong customer service orientation with an ability to deal professionally and tactfully with a variety of individuals in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills required; strong attention to detail needed
  • Strong time management skills with ability effectively manage projects with competing deadlines; ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments, with a high degree of accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient using a high level of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality
  • Effective decision-making skills
  • Successfully demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Prior experience in a public library, cultural organization or not-for-profit preferred and program/project management experience preferred
  • Experience in digital media creation preferred
