About the Agency

This position is located at the Museum Conservation Institute (MCI). The employee provides plans, directs, and coordinates conservation activities concerned with the preservation, exhibition and technical treatment of museum collections.

  • Examines museum collections by whatever means necessary to characterize the nature of the objects and their materials for determination of the treatments required and conducts the appropriate procedures on the museum collections, documenting the processes in accordance with practices and tenets of the profession.
  • Conducts research pertinent to preventive conservation in the museum environment.
  • Serves as a mentor for MCI conservation training programs by participating in training design and development, student or intern selection and guidance, demonstrations, lectures (including presenting general lectures on preventive conservation) or laboratory instruction.
