SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Participates in the exhibit development and production process as a member of multiple Exhibition teams and under the direction of senior design staff. Creates complete and accurate sets of Computer Aided Design drawings on multiple design projects at the Museum of Science, built from physical, graphic, and technical design elements. Supports a collaborative teamwork environment within Exhibition teams, the Education and Administrative Divisions, and the Museum of Science as a whole.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides Design, CAD and Shop drawings for 1 to 2 major permanent or temporary projects annually with budgets ranging from $100,000 to $3,000,000. Size may range from 500 to 12,000 square feet.
  • Provides Design, CAD and Shop drawings for 5 to 10 minor exhibit projects with budgets ranging from $1000 to $100,000 and sizes up to 500 square feet.
  • Creates layouts for 1-4 temporary installations per year.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday, from 9am to 5pm.

Manager, Exhibit Design

STARTING SALARY:

Non-Exempt (Hourly). Commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 or more years of Industrial Design, Theater Design, Interior Design, or Exhibition Design experience.
  • Post HS course work, technical degree, associate’s degree or business certificate preferred.
  • Drafting and design skills including thorough working knowledge of Computer Aided Design, specifically VectorWorks software.
  • Ability to produce high quality submittal drawings from conceptual or schematic designs.
  • Able to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop or similar software, and in integrating 2-D and 3-D design elements seamlessly.
  • Demonstrated ability to be an excellent communicator, take direction well, and work creatively and productively on teams.
