Events Manager

HISTORIC NEW ENGLAND

Historic New England is actively seeking a full-time events manager to complement its ten-member development team.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Development, thisposition is responsible for planning, managing and implementing a portfolio of 50+ events annually, ranging in scope from 6 to 400 guests. These events directly support Historic New England membership and fundraising programs. The events manager will work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the institution to implement events that highlight the organizations mission.

Responsible for all aspects of membership and development events from inception to completion, including theme, invitations, format, timing, audio-visual, set-up and menu; providing the highest level of attention to detail throughout. Integrate all operational aspects including, food and beverage, sound and light, and staffing. Work closely with the senior membership manager and vice president for advancement to design events that achieve and support the strategic goals of the teams and organization. Requires excellent internal and external customer service skills. Must be extremely well organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting while maintaining precise attention to priorities, formats, procedures, details and quality.

Note: This position will be based at Historic New England’s Otis House in Boston (Beacon Hill).

Qualifications:

Two to five years of event planning experience.  Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher.  Requires fully competent computer skills, including advanced working knowledge of MS Office suite, databases, internet research, and e-mail management. Requires excellent internal and external customer service skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Must be comfortable interacting with members, donors, volunteers and vendors on the telephone and face-to-face.  Requires excellent interpersonal communication, writing skills, tact and diplomacy for regular interaction with high-level internal and external constituents. Valid driver’s license and means of transportation is required.

Preferred qualification include prior experience in non-profit or member-based event planning,  prior experience with Raiser’s Edge database and prior experience working with volunteers.
