Job Description
Curator of Collections and Exhibits: Join the team preparing for a new national museum, the U.S. Marshals Museum, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Excellent opportunity for experienced curator to continue the development, research, and organization of collection and to work hand-in-hand with the exhibit designers. Requires strong background in collections management, experience in exhibit development, and strong ability to build professional and community relationships.
Primary tasks include:
- Primary researcher and historian for the Museum
- Primary liaison for the exhibit design company the Museum is working with
- Collections care and management, including design of new collections storage facility
- Exhibit research and control of historical accuracy
- Collections development in concert with Collections Committee
- Member of museum’s senior management team, working to support strategic direction of the museum
- Community outreach and partnership development
- Growing supervisory role

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Museum Studies or related field
- Minimum of five years curatorial experience in a museum setting- history preferred
- Experience in a supervisory capacity
- Minimum of five years experience managing collections
- Prior experience with exhibit design
- Prior experience with Past Perfect or other collections management software
