The Saint Louis Art Museum seeks a Kress Interpretive Fellow. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Engagement and Interpretation. Eligible candidates will have completed a minimum of one year of graduate study in art history or museum studies and be pursuing or contemplating professional placement in these or related fields.

Salary $30,000/year plus medical benefits. No relocation expenses will be provided.  

The main purpose of this 12-month, full-time, temporary appointment is to gain

project-based experience in art museum interpretation theory and practice, under

the mentorship of and in collaboration with experienced educators and curators.

• Collaborate with Curator of Early European Art, Engagement and Interpretation and Multigenerational Learning educators in the research, development and evaluation plan for an interactive Early European Art Cart.
• Partner with the Modern and Contemporary Art Department and Engagement and Interpretation educators on the production of a multimedia tour for the Museum’s new Sculpture Garden.
• Work collaboratively with the Assistant Curator of Ancient Art and Engagement and Interpretation educators on interpretation for the reinstallation of the Museum’s Egyptian collection.
• Interface with IT, Design, Marketing, and other internal and external partners on the above.
• Mentorship with senior staff in Learning & Engagement and Curatorial
• Potential for other projects and experiences to be tailored to the professional development needs and interests of the fellow.
