Job Description

We are looking for a talented and personable professional to develop and implement an integrated comprehensive digital strategy and brand across the institution to engage physical and virtual visitors alike. This position will provide the vision for a robust digital platform that is mission-driven and audience-focused and will develop and manage the Museum’s websites (NHM.org and tarpits.org), Mobile Apps, social media presence, emerging technologies, visitor engagement and other web-based technologies, and collaborations with research/collections, exhibits, guest relations and advancement. NHM has recently completed a dramatic transformation, featuring award-winning exhibits and featured interactive and digital media, and now we are at a critical point in reimagining the digital strategy and web presence for the institution. This year we will launch an innovative digital “destination” marketing campaign in collaboration with our creative agency, and begin the redesign process of the NHM.org website which will involve leading cross-departmental dialogue and selecting a digital partner/web design firm. We are looking for a seasoned professional who will be a leader and a team player, who will bring imagination and technical knowledge to a vibrant multi-faceted organization that explores L.A. ‘s urban nature and citizen science as well as natural and cultural history from the time of dinosaurs and Ice Age mammals to the present day.

The position reports to the VP Marketing & Communications and collaborates closely with Directors of Communications, Marketing and Creative Services. It oversees a Web Developer, and collaborates with a Digital Content Manager, Communications Coordinator for Social Media and Junior Graphic Designer.

Job Requirements

At least 6-8 years’ experience in a complex fast-paced environment is desired. Must have excellent organizational and communications skills and an enthusiasm for digital engagement that is visitor-facing and result-oriented. Candidates should have demonstrable experience in systems management of digital assets, structured content management and integrated management of collection systems.

Salary is commensurate with experience plus excellent benefits. This is a full-time regular, exempt position.
