Director of Development – Rose Art Museum

Description:
LOIS L. LINDAUER SEARCHES is proud to partner with Brandeis University on its search for the position of Director of Development, The Rose Art Museum (DOD).
Qualifications:
Brandeis is a rare combination of a liberal arts college and a global research university.  It attracts faculty who are leading scholars, scientists, and creative artists working at the forefront of their disciplines and interdisciplinary fields.  But like a liberal arts college, it is small enough for students to work directly with faculty at all levels of study, from the introductory to the advanced.   Brandeis has a history of radical innovation in the visual arts. When the Rose Museum was established in 1961, the decision was made not to develop an encyclopedic account of art history comparable to those museums of peer universities, but rather to collect the art of the present.   The Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University is now among the nation’s premier university museums dedicated to 20th and 21st century art. A center of cultural and intellectual life on campus, the museum serves as a living textbook for object-based learning, a home and resource for artists, and a catalyst for artistic expression, scholarly innovation, and the production of new knowledge through art. With its international collections, changing exhibitions, and diverse public programs, the Rose affirms and advances the values of freedom of expression, academic excellence, global diversity, and social justice that are the hallmarks of Brandeis University.   As the Rose Museum looks ahead to a transformative renewal of facilities and professional expertise, an outstanding opportunity exists for dramatic increases in funding.  The Director of Development role is ideal for a creative and talented development professional looking to have a tremendous impact in the growth and expansion of this cultural center.  The incoming Director of Development will partner with Henry and Lois Foster Director, Christopher Bedford, in orchestrating the fundraising activity for the Museum, managing the relationship with the Rose Board of Advisors, and determining the strategy for top donors and prospects.  This individual will be instrumental in advancing the work of the Museum and bringing this institution to its fullest potential as the home of contemporary modern art in Boston.
