SUMMARY STATEMENT: The Member Relations Officer uses data analysis and database management skills combined with an ability to develop and execute innovative membership retention strategies to develop systems and processes to enhance the Museum of Science’s exceptional membership relations program. This position includes coordinating the Museum’s member outreach, fulfillment, and stewardship initiatives; using data to design and implement new strategies to increase member involvement, satisfaction, retention, and revenue; and developing a deep understanding and familiarity with our membership database including serving as the department Tessitura expert.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 50,000+ members, representing more than $6 million in annual revenue.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute 6-10 onsite member events per year.
  • Oversees fulfillment for 50,000+ membership fulfillment kits per year including supervising 1-5 volunteers per day responsible for accurately assembling kits.
  • Work one weekend day and some holidays as required

WORK SCHEDULE: This position is full-time, 40 hours a week, with one weekend day required.
REPORTS TO: Director, Membership

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science or Arts degree preferred
  • Three (3) or more years of office experience in database management and/or direct marketing program strategy development
  • Proven understanding and hands-on ability working with databases including pulling lists, running queries, problem solving, and interpreting data
  • Experience using data to develop strategies that achieve business goals
  • Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Experience with member, customer, donor or alumni relations and service
  • Ability to calmly and professionally resolve issues
  • Attention to detail
  • Microsoft Office skills

STARTING SALARY: Non-Exempt (Hourly). Commensurate with experience.
