Job Description

The Brooklyn Museum is seeking an exceptionally talented Assistant Graphic Designer to design graphics for exhibitions, as well as related signage, invitations and promotional materials (in print and electronic formats).

Our ideal candidate will have a clean, visual style that can seamlessly interface with the Museum’s own graphic identity.

Responsibilities

  • Conceive and Design exhibition graphics for 8-12 art exhibitions per year, including entrance titles, illustrated didactic panels, extensive object labels, maps, timelines, brochures, mural prints and environmental displays.
  • Conceive and Design distributed print materials, including exhibition invitations, media preview      materials, postcards, response cards, and envelopes. And more frequently, e-versions of the      same invitations, press and promotional materials, plus on-line teacher resources.
  • Produce designed materials, whether in-house or off-site. Frequently requires self-production (such as paper labels, short-lead signage, invitation mock-ups, etc).
  • Engage with the Visitor Services department on effective way-finding and exhibition directionals.
  • Regularly, format images and design / art direct elements for the Museum’s website
  • Must meet all production and installation deadlines, and maintain a balanced project budget
