Job Description

The Project Manager – Strategy will be a critical member of the Office of the President, advising both the President and the Chief of Staff and helping to shape priority initiatives of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, which has welcomed nearly 22 million visitors since the opening of the Memorial in 2011. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this individual supports and sometimes leads critical strategic and operational initiatives of the organization.

In addition, this position will also play a key role in planning and executing meetings of the 9/11 Memorial Board of Directors, led by Chairman Michael R. Bloomberg, and committees of the Board. The Project Manager will also contribute to shaping the direction of the organization by supporting the development and implementation of the Memorial’s long-term strategic plan.

The Project Manager will work closely on priority projects with several critical departments of the Museum, including Operations; Finance; IT; Facilities, Design and Construction; Legal; and Human Resources. This role will also help to ensure that the organization operates effectively by leading tracking of organization-wide priority projects and reporting/analysis of key performance metrics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serves as project manager and key point person from the Office of the President for initiatives and activities of strategic organizational importance.
  • Plays key role in preparing for Board meetings and Board committee meetings and manages Board and Board committee meeting planning.
  • Supports strategic planning efforts by serving as project manager for organization-wide annual and long-term strategic planning process.
  • Manages executive-level performance reporting by identifying metrics and targets, analyzing performance and improvement opportunities, and compiling reports.
  • Ensures the Office of the President maintains awareness of key activities across the organization, working with others in the Office and with department leadership.
  • Provides additional project management and administrative support.
