VOLUNTEER AND GUEST SERVICE MANAGER                                    (Salaried Exempt)                 

Senior staff member of the Flint Hills Discovery Center, with overall responsibility for managing a dynamic Volunteer program and a well-trained, visitor-centered Guest Service program.  The Volunteer and Guest Service Manager guides the volunteers supporting staff activities in the areas of visitor services, store, special events, interpretive programs, and exhibits; recruits, trains, and schedules volunteers for support activities throughout the organization; generates the needed volunteer hours to reduce overhead cost of FHDC operations; oversees daily operations of the Guest Service activities at the FHDC by providing staff training, staff scheduling, and financial controls management; effectively use electronic database systems to track volunteer skills, performance, and availability. Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in written form; demonstrates and ensures good public relations via professional and polite interactions with the public; use word processing programs, publishing programs, budgeting programs, and scheduling software. Considerable skill in computer software applications including Microsoft Office, Volgistics, and Rec Trac. Must possess excellent administrative skills to schedule and supervise staff and to ensure accurate financial transactions of admissions desk and gift store sales; knowledge of financial transactions and reconciliation techniques for handling of cash transactions. Ability to solicit citizen input and compile information regarding customer satisfaction with the Flint Hills Discovery Center services and programs, and make recommendations to initiate new ideas to enhance customer service. In addition to numerous volunteers, four part-time Visitor Services/Store Attendants and the regular part-time FHDC Gift Store Coordinator report to the FHDC Volunteer and Guest Service Manager.  The FHDC Volunteer and Guest Service Manager reports directly to the FHDC Director. Bachelor degree or Associate degree in related field preferred. Two years of volunteer management preferred. High school graduate or equivalent required and any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform position duties.

Hiring Range:  $40,086 to $44,494 DOQ                                      CLOSING DATE:  9/30/2015
