Job Description

Individual will lead the Brooklyn Museum’s efforts to expand our presence in the tour and travel trade market, as well as the scope and revenue-generating potential of Group Sales. Develop and maintain relationships within the tourism industry. He or she will work with colleagues in the Museum and externally to create and promote adult group tour programs and schedule group visits while adhering to budget guidelines and goals. The successful candidate will maintain open and frequent communication between onsite caterer and the Museum’s public and educational tour coordinators. Duties include developing brochures, researching mailing lists and advertising options, organizing direct mail campaigns to group tour operators, and email campaigns to the group tour market as well as to other segments of the Brooklyn Museum email list. Scheduling and database software will be used on a daily basis for booking visits and generating sales reports. Share visitor research responsibility with the Audience Metrics Manager on a project to project basis. Produce the Museum’s e-newsletter, coordinate Mail Chimp email marketing activities across Museum departments, and assist in Mail Chimp analysis as needed.

STARTING DATE: October 19, 2015

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm; evening or weekend hours on occasion as needed.

SALARY: $34,000

Job Requirements

Creative, enthusiastic person with initiative who can work independently and carry out projects to completion.   Professional demeanor with proven ability to interface, coordinate and build relationships with different departments and organizations to work toward identified goals.  Detail-oriented with the ability to use influence and critical thinking skills to develop solutions.   Excellent spoken and written communication skills, including comfort and experience with preparing and delivering presentations.  Strong financial reporting, visitor research and analytical skills required.   High competence in Microsoft Office products Excel, Word and PowerPoint.   Proficiency using Siriusware ticketing and scheduling software, or proven ability to learn new software quickly. Knowledge of art, marketing, social media, sales and experience in the travel or tourism industry preferred. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with proven success as a team player. An entrepreneurial spirit, customer service orientation, adaptability to change and a willingness to learn are key attributes for success in this role. College degree with at least two years office experience preferred. Knowledge of SQL preferred.
