Part-time Museum Receptionist/Educator

Description:
Part time position at the Dedham Historical Society & Museum for outgoing individual who enjoys history and working with the public. This position is the public face of the Society. Daily tasks include but are not limited to: welcoming and providing general information to visitors, tracking museum admission, membership and event sales, general office support, assisting with museum shop sales, assisting at evening and weekend special events. Maintains a presence in the galleries to answer questions, engage visitors and monitor programs, organizes volunteers. Prepares membership bulk mailings, shipping of shop purchases. Handles cash, credit card, and special transactions accurately and efficiently. Creates monthly sales and attendance reports. Provides administrative support for Executive Director. 12 hours per week plus occasional evening and weekend programs.
Qualifications:
Strong public speaking and customer service skills. Computer skills including internet research and spreadsheets; PastPerfect experience a plus. Prefer graduate or individual currently enrolled in BA program in History, Education or related field or a demonstrated interest in history, education or the museum field. Ability to work independently and multi-task as part of a small museum environment. Ability to function physically in a multi-story historic building with no elevator and transport bulk mailings to Post Office. Occasional evening and weekend availability required.
