SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Research, develop, and present exciting programs that ignite curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (S.T.E.M) so that all students may see themselves as scientists.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn at least four Traveling Programs per year until you are able to be fully scheduled (teach at least three teaching shifts/week) to meet customer program requests.
  • Teach Traveling Programs, throughout New England, 3-4 days per week, 1-4 sessions per day, 16-250 people per session
  • Drive 5,000-7,500 miles per year to reach sites served
  • Assist with development of demonstrations, activities, media and other program content as needed.
  • Assist the Program Manager by helping mentor and train other staff in learning new program content and equipment
  • May be asked to provide personal information for CORI/SORI to individual school systems that have contracted with the Museum for Traveling Programs

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is full-time, 35 hours a week.
REPORTS TO:

Director, Education and Enrichment Programs

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One (1) or more years of informal science education experience
  • Ability to present and translate a variety of science content to a broad age range with varying degrees of prior knowledge of that content.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills to resolve difficult challenges that often occur when teaching outreach in the field (without the immediate support of colleagues or the Museum).
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a high performing team.
  • Start with and maintain a safe driving record so that the Museum’s insurance carrier approves you for driving Museum vehicles. This includes being comfortable driving full-sized vans in urban, rural, and highway settings.
  • Willing to take Museum’s defensive driving course upon hire

STARTING SALARY:

Non-Exempt (Hourly). Commensurate with experience.
