Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Public Programs Assistant Manager, the Associate/Senior Museum Educator will be responsible for planning, facilitating, and growing two popular young patron programs at Crystal Bridges including: artinfusion membership program for the purpose of engaging ages 21-40s, and the college ambassador student program for the purpose of engaging students ages 17-24. The two programs include a broad range of experiences for these age groups that align with the Museum’s mission, such as advisory committee meetings, art talks, social evening events (small to large scale), local or regional artist studio tours, performances, behind-the-scenes Museum experiences, community event collaborations and more. The position requires strong public speaking skills, and a high degree of public, membership, donor and volunteer contact. In addition to the main responsibilities of artinfusion/college programs, the educator will be involved in supporting development, facilitation and collaboration of events for other adult public programs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Develop, facilitate, and coordinate programmatic aspects of the artinfusion membership program for the purpose of engaging ages 21-40s and growing the artinfusion membership base.
  • Develop, facilitate and coordinate programmatic aspects of the college ambassador student program for the purpose of engaging ages 17-24 and growing the college audience base.
  • Work with the Public Program Assistant Manager to oversee the two advisory committees (artinfusion and college) which includes planning, scheduling and facilitating advisory committee meetings as well as building positive relationships with each committee member.
  • Develop, facilitate and coordinate the artinfusion travel program designed to heighten engagement in cultural experiences locally, as well as working with the Development team on regional and national travel experiences for artinfusion members.
  • Develop, facilitate, and coordinate the college ambassador student programs activities and recruitment held at regional college campuses, which currently include: University of Arkansas, John Brown University, and Northwest Arkansas Community College.
  • Work with the public programs team and education department colleagues on collaboration opportunities with both programs and advisory group members.
  • Work with the Public Program Assistant Manager and membership department to implement acquisition, upgrade, and retention strategies to grow the artinfusion membership base (current goal is to reach 1,000 artinfusion Members by 2018).
  • Work with higher education faculty to cultivate participation amongst faculty, administration and students to grow the college audience base.
  • Work with the Public Programs Assistant Manager, Membership and Communications teams to manage the planning and implementation of artinfusion and college promotions via online, social media, print, and membership campaigns.
  • Work with the Development team to identify potential sponsors for artinfusion and assist in maintaining relationships with active artinfusion sponsors.
  • Identify and develop ongoing relationships with community organizations, and individuals who serve ages 17-24, and 21-40s for the purpose of increasing awareness of and participation in artinfusion and the college program.  In addition, develop, facilitate and coordinate representation of both programs at community events around the region.
  • Utilize and report on analytics that measure various aspects of the program in order to identify trends, inform strategy, etc. (i.e. event attendance, membership conversion rates, Member demographics)
  • Utilize the Museum’s event planning and reservation tools (EMS, VEMS, TAM, Tessitura) to schedule programs and track registration.
  • Work cooperatively with other Museum departments to effectively plan and improve working methods for the successful delivery of public programs, particularly AV/IT production, Membership, Protection Services, Special Events, Development, Trails & Grounds, Volunteer Services, and Facilities.
  • Work with Evaluation Manager and Public Programs team to assess the success of specific programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Train and supervise volunteers and interns for program delivery.
  • Research new development on trends in audience engagement for young adults and share knowledge with groups to inform programs.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Training, and Traits:

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in the arts
  • Enthusiasm about being a team member of a major new art museum with a strong visitor-centered community dynamic
  • Ability to understand and maintain the highest levels of confidentiality
  • Experience in planning and presenting programs

In regard to education and experience, an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience will satisfy the minimum requirements.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum one year of experience in related employment preferred
  • Experience working with and engaging ages 17-40s, special event planning, community relationship building, museum programming preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point, and Social Media

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid Arkansas driver’s license with clean driving record. Willing and able to travel by car to fulfill responsibilities.

  • Physical demands: In the work environment described below, position requires ability to communicate with others. Position requires utilizing a computer for prolonged periods of time and good eye/hand coordination. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision.
  • Work Environment: The majority of work will be performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Occasional weekend, evening and night work hours also required.
