Pay Rate:  $12.00 per hour

About the Site:  From a mastodon dig to the Civilian Conservation Corp, the Lakeshore Museum Center’s new Heritage Park takes visitors on a stroll through 10,000 years of Michigan’s history.  Through interactions with costumed interpreters, wayside panels, activities, programs, and events, visitors will learn how technology, culture, and daily life changed through the years.

Work Schedule:  this non-exempt positon works 40 hrs. /week and has benefits.  Weekend work will be required during the open season.

Responsibilities:  The Assistant Program Manager will help with the development and execution of major events, general daily interpretation when needed, and school tours.  This job will also assist with volunteer development, staff trainings, and conducting research to help further the mission of the park.

General Position Information:  Michigan’s Heritage Park opened in June of 2015 and the position of Assistant Program Manager is a new position to the park.  This position seeks a dynamic person who is flexible and has the ability to grow with a park that is on a fast track for expansion.  The Assistant Program Manager will assist the park’s Program Manager in administration tasks, supervision and scheduling, major events, volunteers, research and collaboration.

Supervision:  This position is supervised by the Heritage Park Program Manager.

Requirements

Requirements:

  1. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, Museum Studies or another related field.
  2. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and ability to learn the scheduling software When 2 Work.
  3. Must have an interest in historical interpretation and willingness to learn historic domestic skills.
  4. Must be enthusiastic, have strong public speaking skills, and have a “visitor first” attitude.
  5. Must be a team player.
  6. Must be able to work independently.
