Description

The Board of Trustees seeks an experienced and dynamic leader to manage and oversee all aspects of the Oneida Community Mansion House including a museum with more than 30,000 objects in its collection, residential apartments, overnight lodging, banquet and meeting space, and more than 200 acres including the country’s first corporate golf course, the Oneida Community Cemetery, and Sunset Lake.   The mission of OCMH is to use its historic site and collections to share the story of the Oneida Community – one of the most radical and successful of the 19th century social experiments – to explore pressing social issues that still confront audiences today, historic preservation, and the natural environment.

The Executive Director reports directly to the Oneida Community Mansion House Board of Trustees and is responsible for the management of a nearly $900,000 annual budget, and six full time, nine part-time, three hourly, and three seasonal employees.

Requirements
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership
  • Five or more years senior nonprofit management experience
  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
  • Ability to convey a vision of OCMH’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors
  • Knowledge of and experience with fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
  • Strong public speaking ability
