Manager of Special Programs (Full-Time). [Position #664] The Thomas Jefferson Foundation seeks candidates with interpretive experience to develop and manage the daily operations of special programs  – including Slavery at Monticello tours, private guide tours, Sunset Pass, and Holiday evening tours – at Monticello. The Manager of Special Programs will take the lead on maintaining, developing, and evaluating Monticello’s range of programs for new and diverse audiences. S/he will also be instrumental in collaborating with staff members in a variety of departments to ensure smooth daily operations of these programs. The manager will assist in the hiring, training, and evaluating of guides and work with other managers and the director in long-term planning and implementation of interpretive programming. He or she will also be the direct supervisor of one fifth of the Monticello guide staff, approximately 15-20 guides. A well-qualified candidate will possess at least two years of supervisory experience, an understanding of historic interpretation principles and practices, experience in implementing creative programs for a range of audiences, an advanced degree in a relevant field of study, and an ability to work some evenings and weekend days.
