Under the supervision of the Dayton Director, the Assistant Director for Finance and Administration oversees a range of operations at the Tang Museum.  These include management of the Tang’s budget, daily payments, and financial affairs; managing human resources administrative work for the museum; direct supervision of the Tang Store Manager and the Visitor Service and Events Manager, and hiring of the Tang monitor staff.   The Assistant Director is a key member of the Tang’s Senior Staff which works closely with the Director to develop and implement museum policies and procedures. This position also supports the Director’s work with the National Advisory Council and the Skidmore Advancement office.

Minimum Requirement: B.A. or B.S. degree in relevant field or equivalent coursework and experience.  The Assistant Director should possess strong financial skills and expertise in budgeting and accounting procedures.  This position requires precision, accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail in all fiscal matters.  Strong written and oral communication skills and experience with personnel management and human resource policies are needed.  Applicants should have an appreciation of the museum environment and bring a creative, team-oriented, problem-solving attitude approach to their work.

Preferred Requirement: Masters Degree in Arts Administration, Museum Studies, or an MBA, with 3-5 years experience in a museum setting.  Coursework in the arts, business and accounting, and museum administration desirable.
