To manage the Briscoe Center for American History’s exhibits program.

Develop several major exhibitions simultaneously. Serve as chair of the Center’s exhibits committee. Oversee all aspects of the exhibit: concept, design, fabrication, production, installation and maintenance. Work with the Executive Director to develop and implement a cohesive vision and strategy for department’s exhibits. Coordinate and review specifications for contracts and manage private contractors. Prepare project timelines and ensure that milestones are met. Prepare and manage regular exhibit budget reports and advise Executive Director accordingly. Work in association with support staff.

Requirements

Bachelors degree with major coursework in the Humanities, Fine Arts or Social Sciences. Three years experience working in a history museum including: research and design of exhibits; research, presentation of educational or interpretive programs and museum administration. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and tasks in a complex and dynamic environment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to manage program budgets. Proven supervisory experience including the successful implementation of priorities and the effective organization of workload both for self and for exhibits staff. Proficient research skills. Ability to create, develop, refine, and implement exhibit ideas. Extensive knowledge of exhibit fabrication, installation, and maintenance. Extensive knowledge of exhibit audio/visual components. Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines. Successful record of communicating clearly and effectively in writing and oral presentations. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
