POSITION SUMMARY:   

The Associate Director Business Partnerships reports to the Director of Sales and will develop and execute the strategy to drive revenue for the Academy’s retail, visitor dining, photo concession, and planetarium show licensing business areas.  This position manages the partners and is accountable for delivering almost $ 2 MM in net sales on $ 10 MM in gross sales in these assigned business areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Drive sales for Academy through product development, annual sales planning, marketing, monthly/quarterly revenue reconciliation and reporting and analysis within the Academy’s Retail, Visitor Dining, and Photo business partners and product licensing of planetarium
  • Manage and maintain oversight with vendor management staff within the Academy’s Retail, Visitor Dining, and Photo vendor business partners and the direct product licensing of planetarium productions via clients/contracted distributors
  • Achieve established revenue goals as assigned business areas
  • Ensure partners maintain a high level of customer service with Academy guests, as measured by visitor satisfaction and mystery shopper data
  • Ensure partners’ products and services are consistent with Academy brand standards
  • Manage the planetarium licensing program for the Academy; achieve an established annual revenue goal via product marketing materials, management and customer outreach
  • Manage assigned projects and programs associated with food service concessions, photo concessions and retail stores
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews verses contractual standards and terms
  • Coordinate and participate in weekly, monthly and quarterly vendor business meetings with key management staff
  • Coordinate/lead quarterly retail planning and product development meetings with the Director
  • Manage expense budgets for all business areas; providing monthly reviews and updates
  • Coordinate various ad hoc sales reports, financial and revenue spreadsheets and activity summaries for internal reviews and sales planning
  • Represent the Director of Sales and the Academy at assigned program meetings with contracted vendor retail partners
  • P&L responsibility: Develop and manage annual revenue and expense expense budgets
  • Maintain electronic client data base (CRM) and internal filing systems for position’s assigned business area and various department/key projects & initiatives
  • Follow all Academy safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following education and/or experience to succeed in this sales coordinator position:

  • Education and experience equivalent to 4+ years of college/university education
  • Retail and/or food service management experience required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with supervisors and department director and business executives
  • Minimum of 5+ years sales experience in a fast-paced office environment
  • Advanced experience with MS Word, Excel, Google for Work, mail-merging and PowerPoint
  • Efficient, proactive, resourceful and extremely well organized
  • Identifies and solves problems independently
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality of all related Academy records

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales and marketing plans, budget sheets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups or individuals.
