Position Summary:  This position reports to the Director of Institutional Advancement and is responsible for identifying, cultivating and securing major gifts from individuals and corporations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages relationships with corporate and major gift donors in conjunction with the Director of Institutional advancement.
  • Works collaboratively with the advancement team members to cultivate donors
  • Monitors all prospects to ensure continuous positive and purposeful donor relations.
  • Collaborates with the IA team and senior leadership as determined by the Advancement Strategic Plan.
  • Researches diverse prospect engines to identify potential individual donors and corporate donors.
  • Initiates contact with potential corporate and major gift donors and develops appropriate cultivation strategies
  • Moves potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure
  • Maintains stewardship contacts with donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donors
  • Focuses on securing major and corporate gifts to support MIM’s endowment, programmatic and educational activities, music theater, and unrestricted operational needs.
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Masters preferred.
  • Five to seven years successful experience in major or corporate gifts or related areas
  • Must have a track record of building donor relationships/closing gifts in the six-figure range.
  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and major gift donors in order to develop relationships between them and MIM
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional areas.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Successful experience in making cold calls, as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments.
