Description

The Franklin Institute, the most visited museum in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, seeks a senior level professional as its Director of Individual Giving.  This position is responsible for the strategic management of individual fundraising through annual, major gift, and planned giving programs.  The Director of Individual Giving works closely and independently with institutional leadership including the Board Chair, Development and Government Relations Committee Chair, President and CEO, Trustees, programmatic vice presidents, and other key volunteers, and supervises four professional employees in meeting and exceeding established goals for all individual giving program areas.  This individual will oversee all efforts to identify and qualify prospects, and cultivate, solicit, and steward current and deferred gifts from individual donors.  The position is accountable for meeting and exceeding total revenue goals in the range of $4 – $8 million annually, and continuously growing and diversifying the supporter base.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree and seven years related experience in development with a specific focus on individual giving programs or an equivalent combination of education and experience plus experience supervising professional staff.  Experience in developing and implementing sophisticated strategies for donor/volunteer involvement is preferred.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from key leaders, donors and the general public is required. Excellent communication skills essential.
