The ICA’s Education Department seeks an Education and New Media Intern to assist Education staff in enhancing learning experiences of ICA visitors. He/she will gain exposure to the different stages of program/resource development—research, prototyping, implementation, and analysis – and will gain familiarity with the various digital and audio educational resources available for museum audiences. The Intern will learn and contribute to the development of online training resources used by museum educators. This experience will help the intern in understanding the development of online training resources used by museum educators; online resources used by the public such as the Mobile Guide; and interpretive spaces created by guest artists. The Intern will learn about museum operations and gain familiarity with best practices in educational resources for adult learners. Attendance at interdepartmental meetings, exhibition walkthroughs and training sessions is extremely important.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate work in media arts, studio art, museum education or similar academic area preferred. Graduate students in these areas are strongly encouraged to apply. Knowledge of contemporary art and visual culture is helpful. Interest in pursuing a career in museums a plus. Basic knowledge of audio production and editing software such as Audacity, Adobe Audition and/or Garage Band. Basic Photoshop skills needed.
