Essential Job Functions

The Manager of Annual Giving and Development Operations is responsible, under the supervision of the Vice President of Development, for the strategic execution and management of a comprehensive annual giving program. This will include identification, cultivation and solicitation of current donors and prospects with the purpose of securing new, renewed and increased support for Zoo New England’s annual fund. In addition, the Manager will foster the implementation of best practices in the supporting areas of gift processing, data management and donor relations, utilizing the Raiser’s Edge software program. The Manager will also demonstrate an appreciation for the foundation of annual giving as an essential component of major and gift planning programs. The Manager will develop and implementcommunication and solicitation strategies involving email, social media, direct mail, phone/mail, personal visitation and volunteer engagement, all focused on building a strong, renewed and sustainable tradition of annual support for the Zoos. Additionally, the Manager will be responsible for the oversight and management of the matching gift program, as a component of annual giving.

Duties & Responsibilities

·Determine collaboratively with the VP of Development, Development officers and CEO, as necessary, communication and solicitation strategies involving email, social media, direct mail, phone/mail, personal visitation and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a strong, renewed and sustainable tradition of annual support.

·Develop, create and assess solicitations consistent with organizational goals, and in collaboration with internal departments.

·Oversee all annual giving including: developing programs for segmented populations such as new members, seniors, LYBUNTS, and millennials; perform report writing and generation, gift processing, donor stewardship, and all additional aspects of the maintenance of the Raiser’s Edge software.

·Develop and maintain a moves management system utilizing Raiser’s Edge.

·Oversee the management of Development operations and logistics, data and recordkeeping.

·Work effectively with administrators, trustees and staff in order to gain strong participation in annual giving and inspire donors to higher giving levels.

·Identify donors/prospects for future cultivation.

·Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Development.

Qualifications:

Minimum Job Requirements

·Bachelor’s degree required.

·Minimum of three years’ experience working with a successful annual fund team.

·Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

·Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

·Excellent skill and understanding of fundraising software programs, particularly Raiser’s Edge.

·Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

·Willingness and ability to work nights and weekends, as required.

·Understanding of database management, gift processing and donor relations.

·Ability to listen carefully to and understand prospect needs, both internally and externally, and proactively respond to those needs in a consistent, respectful, responsible and timely manner.

·Demonstrated analytical and fund raising skills with the ability to recognize opportunities, identify high value activities and prioritize them to attain goals.

·Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and external e-mail programs.

Preferred Job Requirements

·Previous non-profit work in a membership based organization

Demonstrated history of progressive growth of annual giving revenue

·Demonstrated history of increased work responsibility

·Demonstrated ability to interact with lead volunteers, including Board members and other volunteer affiliated groups

·Demonstrated interest in conservation, wildlife or other similar fields
