Description

The Family and Academic Programs Manager is the strategic leader of programs that serve students and family audiences.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Strategic development of academic and family programs
  • Curriculum development and refinement
  • Program evaluation
  • Workshop and class content delivery for students, educators and families
  • Strategic expansion/refinement of family program marquee programs – Webby, Art on the Go Carts, etc.
  • Manages program budgets; makes purchasing and staffing decisions as appropriate
  • Team planning on student and family visitor engagement strategies
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

Education Associate and Education Assistant along with educators, guides, and volunteers

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • 4 year degree in education, child development, museum studies, or similar
  • Masters degree in education/art education/museum education
  • 3-5 years’ experience with curriculum development and implementation
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the museum field preferred

Qualifications:

  • A creative and dynamic thinker, able to generate new ideas to connect with diverse and emerging audiences
  • Awareness of trends and current research on student and family learning in museums
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required by programming schedule
  • A skilled and flexible problem solver
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Proficient with technology and Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit and lift throughout the day
  • Proven organizational skills; highly organized and detail oriented; able to juggle multiple projects with occasionally competing deadlines
  • Sense of humor a must; with a friendly, genuine interest in making the Museum accessible to all audiences
  • A proven collaborator and strong team player. Able to work comfortably with colleagues, subordinates and volunteers.
  • Experience working with schools in the development of strategic partnerships.
  • Digital engagement experience a plus.
