SEARCH, a leading nationwide and global provider of cultural resources services to government and commercial customers, is continuously seeking top talent in the cultural resource management industry.  As a full service company, SEARCH offers a multidisciplinary integration of our five divisions: Archaeology, Maritime Archaeology, Architectural History, History and Archives, and Heritage Design.

SEARCH has an immediate opening for a full time Exhibit Designer for our Heritage Design division.  This position will be responsible for creating interesting and informative multi-media museum exhibits, virtual exhibits, public displays, posters, brochures, booklets, signage, websites and other forms of media intended for a broad public audience, and will also perform other graphic design duties related to archaeology, underwater archaeology, historic architecture, historic landscapes, history, and ethnography.  The Exhibit Designer will typically work as part of a team comprised of a Project Manager, Creative Director, Copywriter, and various cultural resource professionals and support personnel.  Beyond design, work will include fabrication and installation of exhibits.

Qualifications
To perform this position successfully, candidates should possess:

  • Master’s Degree in Graphic Design, Museum Studies, Anthropology, Historic Preservation, or related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the creation and/or design of multi-media displays and exhibits;
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Museum Studies, Anthropology, Historic Preservation, or related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the creation and/or design of multi-media displays and exhibits;
  • Captivating storytelling ability and a highly creative skill set;
  • Eagerness to embrace new technology, ideas, and methods;
  • Experience with the use of power tools;
  • Superior organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to work well in a team environment;
  • Organization, attention to detail, and ability to work well on simultaneous tasks while meeting project deadlines;
  • Effective written and oral communication, both internally and externally;
  • Conversant in Adobe Creative Suite programs;
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite; and
  • The ability to travel overnight, as needed, for project work.

The position will be based out of SEARCH’s office located just west of Gainesville, Florida.  Routine travel, including overnight travel, to project sites will be required and scheduled of the individual hired for this position.  Due to the nature of work, this position will work in a few different settings, including an office environment, workshop environment, and on project sites, requiring the ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time occasionally.  The position also requires the ability to occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs.

The chosen candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test and a criminal background check, including DMV.  Applicants need to be eligible to be employed in the United States and be eligible for government security clearances.  SEARCH offers a competitive total compensation package with strong health & wellness and retirement plans.  Pay will be commensurate with education and experience.
