The mission of the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (CreativePHL.org) is to support and promote arts, culture and the creative industries; and to develop partnerships and coordinate efforts that weave arts, culture and creativity into the economic and social fabric of the City.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a highly organized, multi-tasker who can juggle multiple priorities and assignments. The position requires strong writing skills, excellent customer service, research experience, and demonstrated office and administrative skills. The Project Assistant reports to the Deputy Cultural Officer, and supports the Deputy and the Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE) as a whole. She/he may work on a variety of projects under the supervision of the Deputy and/or Chief Cultural officer including:
• Poet Laureate Program: Coordinate the Poet Laureate selection process and manage the communication with Philadelphia’s Poet Laureate, Youth Poet Laureate, the Governing Committee and other program partners.
• CultureBlocks.com: Support the work of the CultureBlocks team – a group of multi-agency and external partners supporting a web-based mapping tool that provides access to data about Philadelphia’s creative and cultural assets. The Project Assistant will help to administer an outreach strategy, including fielding questions and gathering feedback regarding the tool.
• Quarterly Cultural Meetings: Schedule and coordinate the agenda for quarterly meetings with the purpose of sharing information about the OACCE’s work and programs and the discussion of arts and culture-related work in other City departments.
• Cultural Policy & Research: The Project Assistant will assist the Deputy with policy and research initiatives, publications and other projects. http://creativephl.org/tagged/Cultural-Policy-and-Research

The Project Assistant also provides support through other activities, including but not limited to: operations support for office equipment and technology, developing presentations, communicating with outside partners, and drafting of various documents for internal and external distribution. The Project Assistant is also responsible for assisting with various administrative duties as assigned, including covering the duties of the Executive Assistant when necessary, scheduling, supporting the office at various events, and representing the office at meetings.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
The Project Assistant has knowledge of arts nonprofit management in the Philadelphia arts sector, demonstrates a passion for the arts, and has a high degree of professionalism. She/he has strong analytic, writing, editing and organizational skills. A minimum of 1-3 years of office experience with demonstrated proficiencies in Excel, Word and PowerPoint required. Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree in Arts Management or Arts-related discipline preferred. Passion for arts and public service a must! Flexibility and willingness to work on a full range of tasks – from analytical to administrative – is a must. This is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor of an exciting office.
