Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Academic Programs, the Academic Programs Coordinator will coordinate the Museum’s UCLA student-related academic programs. These academic programs include but are not limited to the Hammer Student Association, Hammer Interns, student professional development programs, and outreach to campus. The Hammer Student Association is an organization of undergraduates and graduates with Publications, Events, and Outreach committees that produce an annual art journal and organize up to four workshops and large events at the Hammer each year. Hammer Interns work in all departments and are recruited and scheduled through Academic Programs. They also participate in a series of professional development programs organized by the Hammer.

Responsibilities include coordinating all aspects of the Hammer Student Association under the oversight of the Assistant Director, Academic Programs such as organizing meetings, logistics, events; and overseeing, archiving, and evaluating all student work. Other tasks include coordinating administrative aspects of the Hammer Intern program including recruitment, training, evaluation, and scheduling, as well as organizing the professional development series. The Program Coordinator will also lead public tours as needed and conduct major student recruitment and outreach on campus throughout the year. Major administrative duties include but are not limited to organizing and maintaining education department and Artist Council files; maintaining financial records for all programs; scheduling meetings and making travel arrangements for artists and museum consultants; preparing drafts and final correspondence, memoranda, reports, tables, and other documents; and assisting the Assistant Director, Academic Programs with administrative duties.
