The Position

The Major Gifts Officer will primarily be responsible for helping to develop the Museum’s new Young Patrons (up to age 40) and Friends of Contemporary Art programs.  S/he will be responsible for the operation and achievement of the Young Patrons and Friends fundraising goals; the creation, planning and execution of a robust calendar of special Young Patrons and Friends activities; and will maintain consistent and systematic communications with both groups. Vision, creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit, combined with strong project management, organizational and communication skills are important in this position.

Responsibilities Include:

• Manage all aspects of Young Patrons, a new group of young supporters of the Museum, and the Friends of Contemporary Art, a new group of supporters with a specific interest in contemporary art, to increase revenue and build membership of both groups;
• Partner with Deputy Director for External Affairs, Deputy Director for Exhibitions and Public Programs, Director of Development, Senior Manager, Major Gifts and Director of Membership to identify, cultivate and solicit new Young Patrons and Friends of Contemporary Art members;
• Assist the Director of Development and the Senior Manager, Major Gifts in work with the Young Patrons and Friends Committees;
• Design a robust and diverse calendar of exclusive Young Patron and Friends of Contemporary Arts events;
• Create and launch these unique Young Patron and Friend activities and manage their execution;
• Oversee implementation of Patron and Friends members’ benefits;
• Maintain an active social media presence for Young Patron and Friends groups;
• Aid in preparation of analytic reports;
• Monitor the expense budgets for all components of the Young Patrons and Friends programs;
• Write and send donor correspondence, as needed;
• Ensure Patrons’ and Friends’ database records are up-to-date;
• Compose invitations and accept responses;
• Help with other development projects and duties, as assigned.

Requirements:
• A minimum of 5 plus years of proven development/fundraising experience in the non-profit field, preferably in the arts; with three or more years of direct experience in building and maintaining a membership program.
• Proven ability to personally cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts (Young Patrons from $360 to $1,000 and Friends from $5,000 to $10,000).
• Ability to ground relationships with donors and prospective donors in Jewish culture and values.
• Superior written and oral communication skills, ability to write and speak in clear, crisp and compelling ways and to articulate the goals, mission and values of the Museum.
• Willingness to work weekends and evenings as necessary.
• Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge or other development technology for prospect identification and research.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
