Otterbein University, a comprehensive liberal arts institution in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, seeks a qualified full-time museum and gallery director for two galleries and the Frank Museum of Art beginning July 2014. The university’s diverse art collection includes work from Africa, China, and New Guinea as well as twentieth-century American works on paper.

Responsibilities: Plan and curate all exhibits for the Miller Gallery, Fisher Gallery, and Frank Museum of Art. Develop programming, create publications, and oversee the installation for each exhibit. Manage the gallery and museum budgets, oversee facilities, and direct fundraising and public relations activities. Supervise a part-time gallery assistant and student interns/staff. Maintain and develop the university art collection, including working with donors, purchasing new acquisitions, and developing conservation and preservation strategies. Additionally, the director teaches two courses during the academic year in Art History, Museum Studies, or Integrative Studies, the university’s undergraduate core curriculum.
Qualifications: M.A. in Art History with significant museum/gallery experience required; Ph.D. in Art History preferred. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated ability to provide leadership in all aspects of the galleries’ and museum’s administration and curatorial activities, including strong writing, researching, and public speaking skills.
