The Education Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of educational and public programs for early learners, including Pre K-2 and their caregivers, interpreting the Museum’s natural science and arts collection. Programming includes educator-led programs, outreach, after-school programs, and assisting with teacher professional development workshops. The Education Specialist will develop and deliver curriculum consistent with the mission and vision of the Museum and its interpretive goals, and that meets state and national standards. The qualified candidate will have 3 years of experience working as an educator (formally or informally). Candidate is trained in early childhood education. Experience working with the general public, in a museum or other public program setting, is a plus. Minimum of an Associates degree in early childhood education; Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or combination of Associates degree with demonstrated professional experience. Excellent writing and public speaking skills necessary. Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision and in a team-oriented environment. Must communicate professionally with administrators, educators, and the general public. Sense of humor and total enjoyment of work is an absolute must!
