Development Assistant (Gift Processing)

General Description:
The Development Assistant will work closely with the Associate Development Officer to process, receipt, and record donations to the Museum, and to manage the department’s complimentary membership program. In addition to working with various fundraising program areas, the incumbent will interact with Museum curatorial departments, fundraisers, Finance and Counsel’s Office, gaining a broad view of the internal workings of gift administration and financial processes.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Research and enter donations of cash, stock, and gifts of art in database
Prepare daily gift distribution to staff
Generate and distribute receipts
Prepare financial reports for general ledger
Create new memberships in database and generate membership cards
Complimentary Membership Management
Generate and distribute monthly membership reports from database
Track responses and follow up with curatorial departments and Development staff
Renew complimentary memberships in database and generate membership cards
Other Duties
Generate and distribute misc. monthly reports
Maintain donor records in database, including address/email changes, deceasing, etc.
Correct and re-generate receipts as requested

Requirements and Qualifications:
Experience and Skills:
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office
Experience with Pledgemaker or other major development database system preferred
Interest in the arts and commitment to the Museum’s mission

Knowledge and Education:
BA required
