Here’s the call from Campus & Community Outreach Coordinator Courtney Klemens for volunteers to help with the List Art Center’s School Vacation Week programs.  Family Week at the List

Tuesday, February 18 through Friday, February 21

Full shifts: 11 to 4 pm, or, Half-shifts: 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and 1:30 to 4:30 pm)

  • Facilitate hands-on artmaking projects with children
  • Create example artworks
  • Help with clean up and set up
  • Looking for an engaging storyteller for Wednesday Feb 19
  • Free lunch!

Tuesday, February 18: Color

Art-making in the Atrium: 12 to 4 pm, Family-friendly tour: 2 pm

Color Wheel Workshop

Color, hues, and tints are all around us! Explore the ways artist Sonia Almeida composes color in paintings found in the exhibition Forward/Play/Pause.  Then, create a mixed-media color wheel to take home to inspire future art-making

 

Wednesday, February 19: Sound

Artmaking in the Atrium: 12 to 4 pm, Story Time and Family-friendly tour: 2 pm

Visualizing Sound Workshop

Artists Helen Mirra and Ernst Karel use sound as their paintbrush.  Listen to what you hear in their exhibition Hourly Directional, and then add your own artwork to a mural that showcases the colors and textures of sound.

Story Time

Stay for a reading of Paul Showers’ The Listening Walk at 2 pm.  The reading will be followed by an exhibition tour.

 

Thursday, February 20: Stories

Outside the Frame Workshop

Photographs can capture one small moment in a big story! Create an artwork that tells a wild or wonderful tale by combining photography drawing, painting, and coloring from your imagination. Bring your own photo to transform, or participate in artist Kambui Olujimi’s photo exchange (in the exhibition List Projects: Kambui Olujimi) to find a story waiting to be told.

Swapping Photos, Sharing Stories Workshop

Join instructors from 826 Boston for a special creative writing workshop that explores photographic narratives inspired by the exhibition List Projects: Kambui Olujimi.

Black-and-White Collograph Workshop

Artist Hans Op de Beeck constructs magical places and spaces in front of your eyes in his film Staging Silence (2) (2012). Explore the places in your own memories and create an evocative black-and-white print of your favorite place.
