Position Description: Brooklyn Children’s Museum is seeking to hire a full-time Afterschool Programs Coordinator to administrate and facilitate daily operations of the Museum Team afterschool and summer program. The Museum Team program serves over 250 participants annually in grades K-12 in hands-on, STEM, arts, cultural, literacy, and physical fitness programs. Responsibilities: •Coordinates daily operations, preparation, planning, and implementation of the Museum Team afterschool and summer program which serves participants from kindergarten through 12th grade.•Serves as the designated Program Director Assistant and liaison to the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), and the Department of Health (DOH), with regard to Museum Team programs. The Afterschool Programs Coordinator is responsible for data entry, registration forms, and compliance standards for all DYCD and DOH regulations.•Collects and organizes curriculums for afterschool and summer programming. Meets regularly with Museums Team Educators to maintain an accurate activity log of participant experiences. Compiles and produces monthly, semester, and year end reports on Museum Team Activity •Responsible for registration, and tracking of student experience for the Museum Team Program. •Assists with the ordering of supplies for Museum Team programming. •Actively participates in museum-wide initiatives and represents Museum Team at Education and interdepartmental meetings. •Serves as a liaison for parents of program participants and assists in planning 4-6 parent orientation or engagement events per year. •Participates in professional development related to Museum Team Programming, DYCD/DOH regulations, afterschool and museum education•Substitutes for absent instructors and leads lessons and activities. •Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: B.A. in Education, Child Development, Museum Studies or related field, and one to two years in youth development or after school programs required. A master’s degree in Education, School Leadership, Social Services, or Museum Educator preferred. ; Strong administrative skills including database entry and review of complicated forms. ; Strong communication skills (written and verbal). ; Experience working with youth in grades K-12, and successfully managing groups required. ; Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks. ; Ability to implement hands-on inquiry based lessons required. ; Must be flexible and passionate about working with youth in a museum setting.
Salary: $33,000-35,000 depending upon experience
