Description:
Busy downtown Boston museum, historic site and meeting place seeks energetic and enthusiastic professional to positively promote Old South Meeting House, its exhibits and programs to tourist and local audiences, and develop, market and manage a busy schedule of facility rentals, including wedding ceremonies, corporate events and programs with non-profit organizations. This key position works as part of a small professional staff to develop, implement, evaluate and strengthen all marketing and publicity initiatives in alignment with museum’s mission and strategic goals.
Responsibilities include developing comprehensive publicity and marketing plans and strategies to advance awareness of the museum and its programs; building and cultivating media contacts; coordinating and overseeing all marketing materials and communications both on-line and print; compiling and coordinating market research; developing event rentals as a significant source of earned income, and directing entire process of facility rental from first contact to post-event wrap up; developing strong relationships and strategic partnerships with other organizations to increase museum visibility and fund operations. This is a salaried full time position requiring some evening and occasional weekend hours as needed.
Qualifications:
We are seeking an energetic, positive and collaborative professional with: 3 + years related experience; excellent writing, editing and organizational skills; track record of developing and maintaining a broad range of strategic relationships; a professional and flexible manner; the ability to be a self-starter as well as a team player and interact effectively with diverse range of people; willingness to function as a key member of a small staff in a collaborative environment and manage multiple priorities. Museum experience and interest in history and/or free speech a plus.
