Job Description
The Assistant Registrar Intern will support the Registrar with archival maintenance of all Registrar’s records, especially maintaining the database of collections-related information for the museum. The intern’s primary duties will be to perform descriptive cataloging of all components of works of art, and their associated media files, in the collection management database.

Job Requirements
Essential Duties:

Input data and update information in the collection management system database and related hard copy files.
Assist in accessioning components of multi-piece works of art.
Create file names according to Registrar’s file-naming conventions, digitize and file digital records in appropriate location.
Assist with electronic and hard copy recordkeeping, file creation, and file management of all Registrar’s records.
Assist the Registrar with preparation of object, crate, and file labels.

Qualifications:

An undergraduate degree in Archives and Records Management, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, or a closely related program from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of two years of registration experience with a major museum, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong computer literacy skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook). Working knowledge of art information systems and computerized collection management databases.
Working knowledge of descriptive cataloging standards (CDWA), descriptive metadata schemas (CCO, VRACore), and controlled vocabularies and thesauri (ULAN, AAT, TGN) for works of art.
Must be organized and detail oriented. Excellent organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, research, and administrative skills.
Transportation to Glenstone, as no public transportation is available.
Position may involve extended periods of time inputting data at a computer.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least one year in a Master’s degree program in Archives and Records Management, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, or a closely related post-graduate program from an accredited college or university.
Interest in a career as a museum registrar or in working for a non-profit cultural organization.
General knowledge of 20th Century art, art history, and artist’s materials relative to the collection.
Foreign language skills and experience in handling art will be helpful.
