ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The department of Art and Design at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Art.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

Direct, manage, administer, and curate exhibitions in the Lawton Gallery.
Teach 9 credits per academic year in the Gallery/Museum studies emphasis.
Manage budget and facilities, and maintain UW-Green Bay’s permanent art collection.
Appoint and supervise LTE staff and work-study students.
Advise students.
Perform scholarly activities consistent with rank.
Perform institutional service and contribute to the ongoing programmatic development within the department of Art and Design.

In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship, and a commitment to undergraduate education. Additionally, they should possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Earned Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) or Master of Arts (M.A.) from an accredited institution by start date.
2 years of curatorial experience working in a gallery/museum environment.
Knowledge of art history, current issues in museum studies and/or arts management fields, and contemporary art.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Familiarity with regional art centers, current exhibitions, and the national and international art world.
Experience teaching at the University level.
Familiarity with the grant writing process and/or fundraising.

STARTING DATE: August 24, 2015

CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT:

This position requires travel for studio and internship visits, returning of artwork, field trips with students, and other weekend and evening work. The ability to lift up to 30-50 pounds, climb ladders, and reach over head is necessary in order to perform essential job functions.

Position is an academic year tenure-track appointment. Applicants must be considered for tenure and promotion in six years although tenure decisions may be at any time. Promotion from Assistant to Associate Professor is simultaneous with tenure. Excellence in teaching, sustained scholarly activity and institutional service required for retention and promotion. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s).
