The Baltimore Museum of Art seeks a Project Cataloguer for the more than 8,000 Northern prints in the Collection of Thomas Harrison Garrett (1849-1888). This wide-ranging collection of prints from the late 15th to the late 19th centuries has remained intact since Garrett’s death. This position is a grant?funded, 24?month, full?time temporary position in the Department of Prints, Drawings & Photographs. The position will start in December 2014.

Responsibilities:

 The Project Cataloguer will inventory the prints in the Garrett Collection stored in the Department of Prints, Drawings & Photographs. S/he will ensure that every accessioned print has an accession number, location, and record with correct and up?to?date cataloguing in the Museum’s collections management database. The Project Cataloguer will report to the Curator and Department Head of Prints, Drawings & Photographs and will work with other curatorial, conservator, and registrar staff within a two?year period to ensure that this project may be completed within a two-year period.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Art History

• Reading knowledge of German

• Previous museum experience with handling and cataloguing prints

• Extensive knowledge of the history of printmaking

• Familiarity with collection management databases

Skills:

• Ability to work independently

• Ability to work well within a small team

• General fitness for lifting and moving heavy solander boxes
