Manager, Donor & Information Services

Reporting to the Director, Advancement, this position will serve on the Advancement fundraising team providing leadership and strategic ideas to strengthen the outreach of The Nelson-Atkins.  Position serves as the museum’s technical expert on Raiser’s Edge and The Patron Edge software. Position will collaborate with other managers to establish strategies, timelines and requirements for donor acquisition, major gift/prospect tracking and special projects.  Manages the utilization/maintenance of the database and advocates opportunities for management action; focuses on providing exceptional and differentiated service to donors, prospective donors, colleagues while providing leadership for the Donor and Information Services Department.

 

Accountabilities

 

Donor Services

Lead the donor services team in the timely and effective operation of funds in a manner which meets donor needs and deepens relationships. Lead donor engagement efforts including, but not limited to: researching best practices; developing recommendations, annual plan, and budget; implementing plan; reporting to leadership and Trustees.

 

Donor Strategy

Assess, refine, and implement the museum’s stewardship strategy and communication. Actively serve as visible, knowledgeable and effective representative of the museum with donors, and the community.

 

Data Processing & Fulfillment

Partnering with the Finance Department, establish standardized reporting and balancing procedures.  Partnering with the IT Department, establish standardized reporting with Vista as well as support website operations.

 

Staff Supervision

Manage the staff of the Donor and Information Services department; hiring, training and supervising day-to-day activity of the staff.

 

Challenges and Opportunities

This position is challenged by the variety of responsibilities to the public and internal staff. The incumbent is expected to prepare budgets and build relationships with external and internal partners. This requires the incumbent have strong interpersonal and public speaking communication skills. This position is involved in other aspects of the workings of the Museum, including visitor experience and fiscal accountability.

Job Requirements

Position Requirements

  • Four years of Raiser’s Edge experience with a thorough working knowledge of all modules
  • Solid foundation in relational database management systems (moves management or CRM)
  • Previous supervisory experience as a manager/supervisor of a database
  • Experience with Crystal reports software to generate customized reports for all departments
  • Experience supervising a team of employees
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Proven success strategically analyzing situations and recommending successful solutions
  • Prior experience working with development and membership management to identify and capture new donors
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent history of high attention to detail
  • Tact, patience, and diplomacy required
  • Strong customer service skills required
  • Must be able to interact with internal staff members in a polite and courteous manner
