Summary:

Assists the Curatorial staff in maintaining galleries and exhibitions and in the installation, moving, packing and shipping of objects.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities: 

  • Assists in maintaining the appearance and safety of the collections in all Museum galleries and exhibitions as well as at on-site and off-site storage.
  • Assists in the installation and changing of exhibitions and displays.
  • Assists in the moving of glass within the Museum and records the associated location changes for Registration.
  • Assists in periodic inventory of the collection.
  • Assists in the periodic cleaning of the collections.
  • With other members of the Collections Management staff, conducts daily inspections of galleries, checks cases and object positions.
  • Assists in changing case lighting as necessary.
  • Numbers objects after numbers are assigned by Registration.
  • Assists in the preparation, installation and maintenance of labels for exhibits and matting of display materials.
  • Unpacks objects received and packs objects to be shipped.
  • Couriers objects as required.Qualifications: 
  • Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree desired.
  • Ability to handle and pack glass objects with care.
  • Knowledge of art history desired.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work accurately in a timely manner.
  • General familiarity with computers and software.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as necessary.
