Reporting to the Vice President for Education and Public Programs, the Coordinator of Access Programs will also work closely with the Legal, Operations, Communications and External Affairs departments. The Coordinator of Access Programs will provide guidance and counsel on accessibility issues and participate in developing and implementing programs for relevant audiences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Working with colleagues in the Education Department, develop and extend innovative program opportunities for visitors with disabilities.
• Develop museum educational materials and website content, as needed.
• Participate, as needed, in museum programs and guided tours.
• Keep up to date on best practices in the field, and gather knowledge and resources from other museums and organizations concerning effective accessibility practices in order to improve our own policies and services.
• Participate with Operations and Museum staff to develop and provide accessibility training for all field staff, and keep all field staff informed of accessibility issues.
• Ensure that the Museum is meeting its responsibilities for effective communication. Serve as the main contact person for visitors with disability questions, concerns and requests of auxiliary aids or services such as ASL interpreting, sighted guides, Braille materials etc. in order to serve our visitors with disabilities more effectively.
• Review and address, in consultation with Legal, Communications and External Affairs staff, grievances concerning the accessibility of the Memorial and Museum, and track resolution and accommodation of each issue raised.
• Maintain good working relationships and outreach to organizations representing people with disabilities, and other accessibility advisers and consultants.
• Review and monitor the Memorial and Museum’s strategies, products, practices, physical plant, and resources related to the inclusion of people with disabilities.
• Maintain familiarity and current information regarding relevant laws and regulations.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIREMENT
• At least two years professional experience working with access and accommodations for people with disabilities and older adults.
• Prior experience working with accessibility issues in a museum, theater, cultural venue/center, educational institution, government agency or service provider is highly desirable.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• This individual must have strong organizational skills, and exercise significant attention to detail.
• Strong written and oral communications skills.
• Preference to multi-task and work independently in a fast paced environment.
