The Marketing Associate is responsible for coordinating, organizing and assisting with all aspects of the marketing department’s strategy.  This includes the museum’s digital communications platforms (web, social media, e-News) and marketing initiatives such as First Fridays, visitor surveys, and membership promotions. The Marketing Associate is responsible for having an overall understanding of ICA exhibitions and collection, performances, programs, and ICA branding.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working with marketing team to organize and execute a comprehensive digital marketing plan across multiple platforms: ICA website, social media, e-News, and digital advertising.
  • Collaborate with Creative Content Manager to create innovative social media initiatives and campaigns to boost online audiences and participation.
  • Build digital initiatives and campaigns with emphasis on expanding online audiences through narrative development, story-telling, and dialogue.
  • Partner with Creative Content Manager to manage image and video needs for web, social media, and other marketing initiatives including clearing rights with museum staff and/or artists/galleries, organizing event shoots (hiring photographers/videographers/editors and internally planned shoots.).
  • Plan, write, and execute ICA e-News, aligning e-News calendar with marketing strategy for exhibitions, programs and membership.
  • In partnership with the Creative Content Manager, build readership through innovative content ideas, strong graphics, and targeted messaging towards segmented lists.
  • Under the Direction of the Creative Content Manager, update and maintain icaboston.org using social media, e-News, and digital marketing to raise awareness of ICA content and drive web traffic. Systematically review (daily/weekly) all pages within the site to ensure they are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Monitor all digital analytics (e-News, website and social media) and provide monthly reports to Marketing management team.
  • Stay up to date on trends in the museum market, e.g. website reviews, e-News sign ups, Facebook and Twitter following, and review digital marketing strategies of fellow organizations including MFA, PEM, Walker Art Center, New Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, etc.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Special Events team, assist in the planning and executing of ICA’s First Fridays program managing invitation copy, event schedule, and photography needs.  Coordinate with admission desk on attendance/sales, and promote event on web, e-News, and social media outlets.
  • Assist Corporate Relations Manager with overseeing sponsor needs at First Fridays including but not limited to signage creation social media updates and other creative ways to highlight relationships.
  • Plan and coordinate efforts aimed at improving the ICA visitor experience, including front desk and lobby updates as well as the collection of emails for visitor surveys.
  • Process departmental invoices; maintain budget tracking spreadsheet and binder
  • Working with Human Resources on departmental internship needs.
  • Among other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The qualified candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field, and a minimum of two years related experience.

Solid understanding of marketing strategies and an interest and/or background in the arts, is required.

Experience creating social media campaigns and a proven track record of building/growing online audiences desired.

Possess excellent writing and communication skills with strong attention to detail.

Have ability to work independently or as part of a team to effectively handle multiple projects.

Must be availability to work occasional evenings and weekends

Possess strong computer skills; command of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Previous experience working with a CMS is desired.
