The University of Wyoming Art Museum, an AAM-accredited museum, seeks an energetic and experienced museum professional to lead the educational endeavors of the museum’s education department in the areas of academic engagement, Preschool – 16, public programs and statewide outreach.

Responsibilities include envision, administer and implement an education program which includes teachers and students, docents, visiting artist/scholar program, grants and development for education program, statewide partnerships and engagement, and teaching.  The Curator of Education and Statewide Engagement supervises the Master Teacher, Artmobile curator, museum educators, volunteers and interns. The Curator fosters innovative and interdisciplinary collaboration using the museum’s original material in teaching and direct study and actively contributing to and advocating for excellence in the field of museum education. Reports to Director/Chief Curator.

Job Requirements

Required qualifications. Terminal degree in art studio, art history, education or related field. Minimum of 5 years experience in museum education or comparable. Knowledge of museum professional standards and K-12 education standards. Demonstrated record of building academic partnerships. Proficiency in Word/Excel.

Preferred qualifications. Progressively responsible experience in the management and delivery of education services in an academic setting.  Proven record of interdisciplinary program development and teaching.  Proven record of successful education development including grantwriting. Strong record of professional accomplishment. Excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving, partnership and organizational skills.  Ability to provide leadership and work in dynamic and collaborative environment.
