Responsibilities: The Associate Curator of Exhibitions will play an integral role in conceptualizing, creating, coordinating, and touring Brooklyn Museum exhibitions. Primary responsibilities are to (1) attract and manage major exhibitions from other institutions around the U.S. and internationally; (2) solicit and help to develop exhibition proposals from curatorial colleagues within the Brooklyn Museum; (3) develop exhibition projects with collaborators from outside the Museum; and (4) organize original exhibitions.

Reports to: Managing Curator of Exhibitions

Work schedule: Regular office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Frequent evening and weekend hours, as necessary.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate must have an advanced degree and broad interests in the history of art and a range of cultures, with a specialty in one area, preferred. The individual must have a minimum three years of experience in exhibition projects, or similar work; advanced word-processing skills; familiarity with databases; and excellent interpersonal skills. Strong contacts in the international and U.S. art museum community and demonstrated experience attracting, developing, and managing exhibitions are highly desirable.
