Description:

The Idea Hub is a new public space in the MIT Museum where visitors can explore creative technologies that have come out of the MIT community. The Idea Hub Coordinator is part of the Museum’s Education and Public Programs team and is responsible for co-developing science, art, and technology educational programs in collaboration with the MIT Museum’s staff, MIT visiting artists, scientists, and educators. This position requires the ability to facilitate adult and youth visits in the Idea Hub, actively seek out innovators to investigate new creative technologies, and individually explore how to create engaging learning experiences that will connect Museum visitors with emerging ideas and inventions. The Idea Hub Coordinator reports to the Director of Programs. 

The Idea Hub Coordinator will:

  • Manage all aspects of the daily operation and use of the Idea Hub, including logistical and technical support.
  • Participate in the ongoing design and development of new Idea Hub programs
  • Participate in facilitation mentoring and training for Museum staff, volunteers, and interns in the Idea Hub
  • Support and evaluate the use of technologies in teaching and learning environments
  • Serve as liaison with Museum staff, MIT students, researchers, and alumni, and other external partners in support of Idea Hub programs
  • Provide support for local professional development workshops for educators

This is a part-time, temporary position, of 12-24 hours per week during Saturdays & Sundays plus one weekday.

Qualifications:
This position requires the ability to facilitate adult and youth visits in the Idea Hub, actively seek out innovators to investigate new creative technologies, and individually explore how to create engaging learning experiences that will connect Museum visitors with emerging ideas and inventions.  The ideal candidate will be skillful with both analog and digital tools, confident about working with MIT students, enthusiastic about creating hands-on educational programs for Museum visitors of all ages, independent, creative, well-organized, and extremely detail-oriented.
